Plant description:  Although commonly known as Roman Coriander, nutmeg flower or Fennel flower, Nigella sativa actually belongs to the family of Ranunculaceae. This annual herb is native to Turkey, Pakistan and Iran.growing to about 30cm, it has an upright branching stem, fine deeply cut leaves, grey-blue flowers, and toothed seedpods. The seeds, which contain 40% fixed oil and up to 1.4% volatile oil, are gathered once ripe.

Principle Constituents: Thymoquinone
